Air canada: The worst airline, worst to deal with its customers !!
We had bought tickets for the trip Copenhagen-Costa Rica round trip with the departure 2020-04-14 and return trip 2020-05-05 via the travel agency in Sweden. Our trip was canceled due to the Corona pandemic, but neither the travel agency nor air Canada heard about what will happen to our tickets / money. After a month or so, the travel agency wrote that they had sent a request for a refund but we still have not received anything! neither suggestions for other options such as 5resecheck or money back. We have spent about NOK 35,000. on tickets and seat reservations !!! October 2020 I contacted air Canda then it says on their page that the refund of unused tickets caused by the pandemic will take between 6-8 weeks! But got in response that I should turn to the travel agency. And the travel agency says they have not been notified by Air Canada. Now it has been 7 months all other airlines have paid back, even Turkish air but not air Canda! What does Air Canada have to say to us?
Update: Today is 23 / 11-2020 and we have still not received any message either from Air Canada or from our travel agency!
I will never use Aircanada in this lifetime. I booked two tickets and they charged me a cancellation fee for a flight that they had cancelled due to corona virus.
Shame on you!

Terrible Airline, I booked a ticket from Lisbon to Miami which was canceled BY THE AIRLINE, i had insurance and still didn't get the refund, they say it will take 3 to 6 months?? but when you pay they process the payment straight away right, avoid like the plague
Compared to the nightmare experience with other airlines since the COVID pandemic started I am absolutely impressed with Air Canada. I had a flight booked for September 2020, which had to be cancelled. At first, I was only able to receive a voucher, which was fine for me. Receiving the voucher took about 2 months, but considering my experiences with Lufthansa, two months was nothing and customer service (via E-Mail only) was very friendly.
A few weeks ago, I received an email from Air Canada (without prompting from my side, I must add), offering me a full cash refund of my booked ticket, if I don't want to keep my voucher. Since I don't know when I'll next be travelling with the airline, I've accepted the offer and two weeks later I had my cash refund on the credit card.
I'm very positively surprised by that and genuinely appreciate this initiative.
I very recently flew from London to Toronto to be with my father in his final moments of life. It was and still is the hardest thing I have ever had to do. While on the flight, alone, I began to cry. I silently wept to myself for about 20 minutes before I needed to blow my nose as it was running and to dry my face a bit. To do this, I had to pull my mask down, temporarily. A flight attendant immediately came by and began telling me off for not having my mask pulled up. I apologised and pulled my mask back up to which she loudly replied, ‘DON’T TAKE THAT TONE WITH ME!’. I was in a bit shock and told her I was having a bit of a break down and before I could explain why she said “People like you are the reason so many people are dead” She then stormed off and made and announcement over the PA system informing me that the police would be called on anyone who refused to wear a mask. The rest of the flight just saw me crying for hours, non-stop. The rest of the flight staff began treating me in a hostile way. I was ignored when hot drinks went by, when a snack was being served it was literally thrown down on a table two seats over from me and when I tried surrender some garbage towards the end of the flight, it was snatched out of my hand in a very aggressive way.
First off, I and very aware of how important masks are. I work for the NHS in London where I have been on the front line of this pandemic since day one, putting my life at risk to make sure others are safe and comfortable. Secondly, no one was around me when I pulled my mask down to clean the excess mucus off my face. Doing this is extremely important as it soiled the mask I was currently wearing making it a health hazard on it’s own. Thirdly, the way this woman spoke to me was extremely distressful and disrespectful. The way the other staff treated me afterwards, was also unforgivable. I was in an extremely distressed state dealing with my family situation already and to have been spoken to in that way, and to be blamed for the current pandemics mortality rate brought me to an absolute low point that I still find myself in. The woman didn’t give me a chance to explain myself and actually accused me of ‘taking a tone’ with her when I pulled my soiled mask back up and apologized to her. If I had a tone, it was due to me crying.
I am disgusted and appalled.
I have yet to book a return flight back to London but when I do, I promise you it will not be with Air Canada.
Absolutely horrible experience. I bought tickets for a trip that was supposed to happen in the summer of 2020... of course, as we all know, COVID happened and everything was canceled. Mind you, WE did NOT cancel the flight. I also purchased flight insurance in case the flight were to be canceled by unforeseen circumstances.
Tried to get a hold of air canada soooo many times asking for a refund. Pain in the butt to get a hold of waiting on the phone for over 5 hours at times and then suddenly getting disconnected. Finally was able to get a hold of some kind of virtual assistant chat, said we would get refunds by end of Jan 2021.... almost a whole year for a refund??? It's end of February 2021... still no refund. Where is our money?
I for one, do not like air Canada.
I am from Canada and am frankly disappointed. Their planes are always dirty, one time when I used air Canada there was a very strong smell coming from my seat.
Many of you have rated a company and know that one star = stay away, that is exactly my advice to you.

I am in awe of how Air Canada handled their customers with great care during this pandemic. I booked a flight with them and during my trip, I have noticed how they take extra precaution on giving their customers a great biosafety experience. Kudos to them!
Terrible service. I've got to go back in my home town and still blocked in Toronto. Disgusting, especially during this hard times. I need to see my family. Please give me an immediate refund or a way to get home quickly.
The worse company I've ever flown.
This was my first time flying with Air Canda, and I was somewhat expecting a good service based on my sentiment towards Canada and Canadians in general, a country and people I love.
I've booked a business class ticket from Toronto to São Paulo, and the terrible service started on the ground with the rudest ground agent. When I asked if I could use the other lounge as the one on the international terminal was closed (I had a 7-hour layover in Toronto coming from Chicago). His answer was, "You are not Canadian, so you cannot enter this area - there are people that come here on connecting flights and have to stay 24 hours sleeping on the floors, and they cannot enter here. There is a Starbucks open there. You can eat there" - I understand the reasons given; I just think he could have been more polite in his arguments. Once I boarded, my seat assigned seat was 10K, which is located on a smaller 3-row business class segment. I was the only one at that segment, and then another very rude flight attendant came to me and asked to move to the other part with all other passengers; I asked if I could stay there as I felt safer with fewer people breathing the same air. He said: "Your choice, but service there will be different." When I came from the bathroom, a tray with the food was already on my seat - freeze cold bread and cheese - The food was stacked in one dish and not eatable - when I asked what to drink was offered wite or red wine, and that was it. The wine was so sweet that I could not drink. Mid-flight, when I was already sleeping same rude flight attendant came banging on the side of my seat, yelling that I should wear a mask. I woke up very lost, not understanding what happened. I had a mask on when I went to bed that must have fallen. He threw a disposable mask on my lap. And I replied I don't need it. I have a mask, and I found it on my pillow.
All and all, the seats are super narrow on the leg space that you can only sleep stomach up. If you are paying for flying in a premium cabin, expecting good service, don't waste your money!!
- Cabins vary widely especially on trans-Canada flights. E.G. some business class cabins have modern lie-flat seats and large screens often found only in First while other business class cabins on similar trans-Canada routes are a throw-back to another decade with seats that barely recline and screens as small as tablets.
-Limited food. Plastics bottle of wine and terrible cold meal box. No hot meals on 5-hour flights across Canada. My journey included a 4-hour flight on Qatar economy and the hot food was wonderful so why can't AC offer the same?!
-Inattentive cabin crew. They're often rude and no pleasantries given to premium cabin guests
Out 9000.00 due to Covid 19. We had maximum insurance coverage .. and Air Canada was nice enough to offer us a credit... Well last time I checked when some one buys a product if they don't receive it they should get there money back.
The almighty Air Canada accountants with their wise business decision trying to save there airline profits just ripped us off. We have joined the class action.
If you are planning on booking a flight during this pandemic, Air Canada is the best choice! They are very accommodating on my inquiries regarding my flight plan. Their customer service is very approachable in addressing minor issues.

It is definitely a real company because I flew with Air Canada a couple of times, but I recommend not use the airline.
